Learning at Forres

The Forres Curriculum

 

The curriculum at Forres is carefully chosen to enable children to make progress over time. Our intent is to ensure that our children develop the skills they need to become lifelong learners whilst also progressively building on their knowledge over time.

 

Our curriculum is broadly topic based, with links being made being subjects when they are appropriate, enabling children to deepen their understanding. When subjects do not have an obvious link then we do not attempt to make these and the subject area will be taught discretely 

 

For English and Maths we follow planning developed by Herts For Learning from EYFS through to Year 6 and progression documents to map our learning closely to National Curriculum expectations. For the Foundation Subjects (History, Geography, Science and RE) we have used the National Curriculum to develop our own bespoke curriculum with a focus on understanding the needs of our children.

 

In the other foundation subjects we have utilised a range of pre written curriculum programmes from accredited providers including Charanga for Music, Kapow for D+T and Art, IPep for PE and Minimus for Latin.

 

From September 2022 we have moved into mixed aged classes in some year groups, therefore we have adapted to create a mixed aged curriculum on a cycle of Year A and Year B. The Year A cycle will be taught in the academic year 2023/2024.

Although for certain subjects that follow a paid curriculum (such as Computing), we are unable to publish more details publicly as it is against the agreement with the provider.
