Deign Technology

In Design Technology we have been designing a Space Buggy for Mars.

We have researched the condition on Mars to help us with our design and design features to ensure it will be able to withstand the temperatures and surface. Thinking about the materials we would use and so on.

Next the children made a moving car which would be the base of our buggy. They had to make the structure and use their cutting skills for the axis. Making the electric circuit was tricky but we got there.

Geography

In Geography we were looking at Biomes, Climate Zones and Vegetation belts. Using the definitions in groups we matched them altogether.

Art

In Art we have been looking at printing. We designed an image linked to our Topic of Space, using this to produce a relief. This was then used to create a print, using different colours.

History

In History this week we were looking at how animals were sent to Space, placing these animals and dates on a timeline with other Topics the children have covered - ordering them, showing an understanding of different events which have taken place and when they occurred.

In Music we have been listening to 'Make you feel my love' by Adele and Bob Dylan. We have been counting the beats of the song and added instruments accompanying the ballad. We have discussed the different versions of the song and thought about what we like/don't like and what instrument we can hear.

In PSHE we have been looking at our life goals and dreams. We looked at what we want to be when we grow up. In class the children also ordered jobs in terms of importance and then in terms of wage. This lead to a very interesting conversation about  why some professions earn more than others.
