Forres Primary
At Forres Primary Academy, we have had a big push on Reading for Pleasure. We ensure every class has enticing book corners, with a range of authors and book types suitable for each year group.
Terry the Turtle!
Our school mascot is Terry the Turtle. To promote a love of reading at home, each class has their very own Terry mascot that can be taken home by one pupil every weekend. Along with Terry comes a picture book and a hot chocolate sachet to encourage family ready time whilst you're getting cosy!
Look Who Got Caught Reading!
Over half term, teachers and teaching assistants were busy reading in unusual places! It is now the children's turn to read their favourite book in the most unusual place.
Can you beat Miss Dellar on the log flume? Or sit with your favourite animal like Miss Goldsmith, Mrs Sagoo and Mrs Wakefield? Maybe, you like to read whilst eating your favourite food like Miss Mead!
Whatever your unusual reading place is- we can’t wait to see it!
Summer Reading Challenge at the Library.
Last year, all pupils visited Hoddesdon Library for the launch of the Summer's Reading Challenge.
The Summer's Reading Challenge encourages children to keep reading during the school summer holidays and to enjoy reading anything they like! Children are invited to read 6 library books (or eBooks/eAudio from BorrowBox) and collect rewards for their reading.
