Summer two

Week Beginning 11th July 2022

This week we will be using data to make comparisons and calculate sum or difference.

We will be looking at data in tables and grids and comparing the information presented. We will apply our skills to worded problems involving the representation of data.

This week in Maths we will be comparing and representing data tables. We will be also interpreting tables and graphs.

Week beginning 27th June 2022

This week we will be calculating missing lengths in rectangles and shapes or patterns including rectangles.

We will be also reading and writing Roman numerals to 1000.

This week we are looking at 2 D shapes.

We will be exploring the language of regular and irregular.

The children will be using their knowledge of the properties of shape to sort shapes into Venn and Carroll Diagrams.

Solve problems involving multiplication and division, including scaling by simple fractions and problems involving simple rates.

Use all four operations to solve problems involving measure [for example, length, mass, volume, money] using decimal notation including scaling.

This week we will be revising how to tell the time. We will be converting between 12 hour and 24 hour time, as well applying this to solving problems which involve the duration of time.

Due to the demands of Business Week, we were unable to complete this work in the last week of the half term as originally planned.

This week the children will be identifying 3D shapes, including cubes and other cuboids from 2D representations. 

 

Week Beginning 28th March 2022

 

This week we will be focusing on translation and reflection of 2D shapes.

We will be identifying, describing and representing the position of a shape following a translation or a reflection, using appropriate language and to know that the shape has not changed.

This week we will be focusing on Translation of 2D shapes.

We will be identifying, describing and representing the position of a shape following a translation, using appropriate language and to know that the shape has not changed. 

 

Week Beginning 14th March 2022

 

This week we will be continuing our exploration of percentages, decimals and fractions.

We will be challenging ourselves to apply our understanding of percentages to calculate percentages such as 5%, 10% 20% etc of amounts. 

At the end the week we will be attempting reasoning types of questions on percentages, decimals and fractions, where we will be applying our understanding to worded problems. 

Week Beginning 7th March 2022

In Mathematics this week, we will be recognising the per cent symbol and understanding that per cent relates to 'number of parts per hundred'. We will be writing percentages as fractions with denominators of 100 and as decimals.
