Phonics homework expectations.

Your child will have their own 'Phonics Home Practice Book'. 

Each week your child's book will be updated to reflect what sounds they  have been learning over that week.  We ask that you sign each sheet to acknowledge you have seen it and that you have practised with your child.

Should you need additional support please do not hesitate to speak to your child's Class Teacher.  You may also find the information on the 'Phonics' section of our website useful.

Each day your child will bring home their own reading book.  At Forres, our main supply of reading books in EYFS and KS1 are Twinkl's own 'Rhino Readers' range.  These books provide fidelity to the scheme and are carefully aligned and matched to your child's phonetic level .  This will help to build confidence and allow your child to apply new learning. 

Rhino Readers are a broad and diverse collection of stories with a range of genres that will promote a love of reading!

Our expectation at Forres is that your child has the opportunity to read to an adult for a minimum of 5 times a week.  Please remember to sign and write comments in their reading journals. 

The Rhino Readers books have lots of helpful sections to support your reading experience at home. Sounds mats for all levels can be found on our website and will help your child should they experience any difficulties when reading at home.
