This week (17 - 21st March) Innovation have been writing fact files in English about spiders. We researched facts, planned our writing and put together some simple sentences. We then worked on expanding our sentences to include technical vocabulary and fronted adverbials. Once the children had edited their work, they published a beautiful double page spread all about spiders.
In Geography we went on a "trip" to Italy exploring the streets of Rome, Venice and Milan. We investigated the human features that Italy has to offer and wrote a letter home all about our trip and the places we visited.
Science this week, we expanded our knowledge of circuits by adding switches and investigating how they allow the electricity to be turned on and off.
In RE we have been learning about the story of Good Friday.
This week (10th March 2025), the children have enjoyed continuing to focus on our set text - Charlotte's Web. This week we have acted out one of the scenes from the book, focused on what the characters are thinking and feeling, written a diary entry from the perspective of Fern and sketched out what we think Fern's barn might look like using evidence from the text.
In Mrs Payne's Maths group, fractions are the focus. We have started to explore fractions and what equivalent fractions are, and how we can identify them on a number line.
In Science, we used wires, cells, and lightbulbs to build some simple circuits, and the children loved having a very hands-on practical lesson.
Italy is our focus in Geography, and this week, we looked at the physical features that the country has to offer.
