Welcome to Hampstead page
This week we have been learning about the Royal Family and the wedding on Saturday 19th May with Prince Harry and Meghan. In class we created our own 'Hampstead castle' and even had our very own Prince Harry, Meghan and Queen come to join us for the week!
On Friday, we came into school wearing blue, red and white. We spent the morning making flags and crowns and preparing for our afternoon tea party! After lunch, we took our cucumber finger sandwiches and cream and jam scones out on to the field with our buddies and the Royal Family. Afterwards, we took part in some traditional games which included bowls, croquet and javelin competitions along with some bat and ball and running races. It was so much fun!
School Trip to Parndon Wood
Today, we went on our first school trip! We got on a coach and went to Parndon Wood! We spent the day looking at birds through the hides and bugs in the bug hotels. We explored the woods and nature and at the end we even went den building!
How to Grow a Dinosaur
This week in EYFS, we have been looking at the book 'How to Grow a Dinosaur'. In the book, Albie planted his own seeds and they grew into a jungle. When he explored the jungle, he realised his seeds had grown into dinosaurs! On Wednesday, we thought we would have a go at planting our own seeds. Today, Friday, we had a BIG surprise when a dinosaur walked past our classroom door! We think we may have just grown a dinosaur too...
First Days of Sun!!
The end of this week we have had lots of sunshine! We have made the most of it by having most CIL outside, spending time on the field and having PE outside! It was sooo hot, we even had to have some ice lollies to cool us down!!
On the Thursday before we broke up, we came in to school and the Easter Bunny had been to visit! He had hidden eggs around the classroom for us to find. We went on a hunt to find all 54 eggs. We found 2 each and wrote our name on the egg. We also came in to school to find the jelly beans we had planted the day before had grown in to lollypops! Earlier in the week we made chocolate egg nests which was so much fun! We got to eat them after too!
Hampstead class assembly
This term we had our Hampstead assembly. We decided to dedicate this assembly to the inspirational woman in our lives, as it fell on inspirational woman week and the week of Mothers Day. We linked it to our topic of superheroes and spoke about why we think our mums are superheroes. We showed paintings that we drew of our mums and sang them a song.
This afternoon we received an email from the Green Goblin. He sent us a video explaining that he had trapped Mr Hollis and the only way we could save him was to each complete 5 of the 15 secret missions. The Green Goblin sent us each a chart so we could keep track of our missions. By the end of the afternoon, everybody in Hampstead had completed 5 of the missions and Mr Hollis was set free!!
Today was reading day. We spent time reading and talking about some of our favourite books in class. We did activities based around these books, such as designing front covers and drawing and describing characters from the stories. We brought our very own books in to school and swapped them with our friends so that we can read new books at home! Mr Hollis and other classroom teachers read some stories too us and our buddies even came down to read us one of our favourite stories.
Chinese New Year
In literacy this week, we have been learning how to write lists, and as a part of this we were writing order forms. We wrote down all our favourite things to order from a Chinese and came together as a class to call up and order them. We then got to try lots of yummy food!
New members of Hampstead
We had a big surprise today in Hampstead when some new members arrived in our classroom. These fish are called Danio fish and they now live in Hampstead. 2 of the fish have stripes and the other 2 have spots. As a class, we came up with some names for them.
Meet Sky, Flyfish, Belle and Coral!

Wednesday 13th December 2017
This week in school we have been reading the story 'Superworm' so we had a go at making our own jelly worms!
This week in school, we made a card to send to Santa. We folded some card and drew a picture on the front. On the inside we wrote what we were hoping for on Christmas day. On Thursday 16th November, we took a walk down the road to the post box so that they could reach Santa in time for Christmas!
To remind us of all the brave soldiers who have died, our buddies came to help us make some poppies. On Friday 10th November, we went to a whole school assembly and were silent for two minutes at 11 o'clock to think about the soldiers. We laid down our poppy on our class memorial and bowed our head for a moment of silence.
