Your maths lesson will be on Zoom today at 9.45am.

Please do not complete these tasks beforehand.

LO: To divide by sharing using manipulatives

What is this?

It is a division symbol. We use it when we are sharing a number into equal groups.

When working out

12 ÷ 2 = 6

We need to share 12 into 4 groups equally.

Can you find 12 objects and share them into 2 equal groups?

REMEMBER: give one object to each group, one at a time.

Can you draw an array to show sharing 12 into 2 groups?

12 cubes into 2 equal groups is 6 in each group.

12 ÷ 4 = 3

Have a go at working out these.

Draw the arrays to show how you have organised them into groups.

14 ÷ 2 =           8 ÷ 2 =

10 ÷ 2 =          16 ÷ 2 =

20 ÷ 2 =          30 ÷ 2 =

Complete the speaking frame below for each of your calculations.

… shared into … groups is … in each group

Our learning this week will be all based around this video that we watched last week:

LO: to identify and summarise the main points in a narrative.

This week we will be working towards writing the story from the boy’s point of view.

Watch the video clip again and look for as much detail as possible!

What are the main events? What order do they happen in?

What pops out of the water first?

What colour is the boy's scarf?

What hand does he hold the stick in?

Here is a story track. This story track represents the timeline of the story.

What would you put first? What happens next?

Fill in your story track with 10 main events from the story. Look back at the video clip to help you!

The Mallodile emerges from the water.
