On the 31st of March, the whole Year 5/6 team ventured to the Herts Young Mariners Base in Waltham Cross to experience a taste of what it would have been like to be one of the famous vicious Vikings from their topic work.
In classes, they took part in problem solving activities, orienteering adventures and even went Bell Boating on the lake. Sadly, despite their insistence, the children weren’t allowed to bring weapons on board and did have to wear all of the modern non-Viking safety gear. The children did brilliantly in their groups, ‘hunting’ animals on their orienteering activity and finding a way to traverse a dangerous ‘ravine’ without falling in during their team building exercise. They also paddled fiercely in groups of ten on the bell-boats and raced across the lake to take part in a giant game of Fruit Salad with the rest of their class.
All of the children were behaved beautifully and worked fantastically well together in their classes and their smaller groups. The entire Year 5/6 team is incredibly proud of the way that they represented themselves and the school and would like to thank parents for their continued support.
