On Tuesday the 7th, we hosted an all day Kabaddi event with a number of local schools including Cranbourne, Roselands, St Cross, St Augustines, Westfield, Roselands. The tournament was held in the honor of our Nepalese guests who spent the week here with us at Forres. Kabaddi is very similar to tag rugby, which meant that all the children took to the game very easily. Especially considering some of our children have prior experience with the game after it was introduced to us by Mr Donno a number of years ago after his first visit to Nepal.
All the children behaved and performed fantastically, after spending the morning in the hall getting to grips with the game and learning the rules, they had a few practice games and then ventured out onto the field to have a proper tournament. Each school's team showed fantastic sportsmanship and exemplary skills in the game and proved to us and themselves just why events like this are so beneficial for schools in the local area to do together.
Impressed with the day and the children, Mr Donno is hoping that this will become a permanent fixture in our school sporting calender and hopes not only that the other schools take up Kabaddi as part of their sporting curriculum but that they will be happy to return to us in the future.
